This community program is part of the Out of the Cold project operating throughout the week in various churches and other faith communities across Toronto
In our sixteenth year, Eastminster’s Out of the Cold program continues to offer shelter - not judgement - a nourishing meal, access to a nurse, hot showers, and decent used clothing. We feed up to 130 guests, and have sleeping accomodation for 45. On "Cold Alert" nights we are able to increase the number of overnight guests. The Eastminster Out of the Cold program is run by volunteers and is funded solely on donations from the congregation and community.
The cost of the Program for the church averages out to $1,000.00 weekly. This includes all food, cleaning materials, towels for showers, toiletries, blankets, Christmas packages, and clothing.
By donating to this special needs program you help to relieve some of the stresses that the homeless of Toronto must endure during the harsh winter months. Donations can be made to: Eastminster United Church, Out of the Cold.
Needs:- There is a continuing need for all types of clothing for Out of the Cold. Especially large sizes to x2-x3 in both men's and women's. Also needed is large to extra large underwear, socks and hygiene items. Tennis shoes, boots, and tea towels and bath towels are also in great demand.
